New York Times Quote of the Day:
"It is something wonderful to get a letter. The paper, the stamp, the envelope. It is not just a piece of paper. It is something sacred."
– Ibrahim Ismail Zaiden, Baghdad postman
Now let's all sit and meditate on that for a minute. |

I've discovered I really dislike Valentine's Day, and NO, it's not because I'm single. I'm fine with that. The Valentine's Day brownies I got in the mail yesterday from my Mom made my day and some of my favorite memories of elementary school involve debating which GI Joe Valentine card sent the "right message" to whom and decorating brown paper sacks with glitter and construction paper.
No, what really get's my Valentine's Day goat is when people say
You know, Valentine's Day is really just a conspiracy of Hallmark and the floral industry.
as if that were a completely original thought that I had never heard before. Sheesh. If you're going to tell me why you're upset no sent you some candy (Valentine's Day Hint: Sonic is giving out mini-Snickers and each woman who walks into Pizza Hut gets a rose), at least come up with something original that I haven't heard a bazillion times before. If you said:
You know, Valentine's Day is really just a conspiracy of PETA, General Motors and that Jared Guy from Subway.
I'd at least give you points for originality. |
